Today, the Tennessee Department of Education announced that Part 2 of the TNReady/TCAP testing in grades 3-8 is suspended for this school year. This pronouncement follows a strained testing year, with the failed attempt at online testing due to technical difficulties by the state’s assessment vendor, Measurement Incorporated, late arrival of paper and pencil testing for Part 1 of TNReady/TCAP, and another shipping delay this week. Every district, including ours, has not received all necessary testing materials in time for the Part 2 testing window. Our teachers and students have worked extremely hard this year in preparation for the testing transition, which has been utterly disappointing in its rollout.
Tennessee Commissioner of Education Candice McQueen offered districts the option of testing in grades/subjects where complete testing materials have been received. The multiple failures by Measurement Incorporated have removed the opportunity for equitable accountability for students, teachers, schools and school districts across Tennessee. With the numerous breakdowns in the rollout of this new test administration, the Franklin Special School District believes it is in the best interest of our students, teachers and families to not administer Part 2 of the state assessment, even in the grades where we have received all testing materials. The only students who will continue forward with 2016 state testing are those currently taking high school math courses, Algebra I and Geometry.

We look forward to that opportunity in future years,” said Director of Schools Dr. David Snowden. “Regardless of the state’s failed test administration, we are grateful for the efforts of all involved as our faculty and staff have thoroughly prepared students for the future, providing them a steady path for success.”

WCS parents and students ALL TnReady Assessments have been suspended until further notice. The district will send more information ASAP.
