State of the County Address

UPDATE 7.30.13

Mayor Anderson delivered the State of the County address on July 16th and the video is available for you to watch in case you missed it.

The Mayor addressed the newly combined Williamson County Chamber and the lunch was packed with no seats left open. After opening ceremonies, the Chambers’ Matt Largen discussed the future and asked that all in attendance give feedback after every meeting in the form of top three take-aways. This information is shared on the Chamber website for those you may have missed the meeting. He then announced Mayor Anderson as the best boss he ever had.

“Leadership matters and growth is no accident,” were the words used by Largen to introduce the Mayor. He explained that Williamson County is so strong and prosperous because of the leadership of Mayor Rogers Anderson. During talks with potential businesses coming into the county Mayor Anderson always asks the delegation, “How important is public education to you?” His commitment to education shows in the recent results from FSSD and WCS.

Mayor Anderson spoke on comparisons. 62.7 percent of the budget is for education in the county. The remaining 37 percent of the budget is used to take care of county needs. That budget total includes the new installment of School Resource Officers in every school in the county. The focus is on the future. Debt has increased but so too has the tax base. Debt as a percentage of the tax base is decreasing and the AAA bond rating is stable. “These are good times that we live in,” said Mayor Anderson.
