The Battle Ground Academy Wildcats finished their season with a doubleheader loss against St. George’s in the Division II state quarterfinals on Thursday.
The Wildcats were toppled, 9-1, in the opening game as a BGA error opened the door for three runs to score, turning a game that had been close at 2-1 into a rout for St. George’s.
BGA played better in the second game, taking St. George’s to the wire before falling, 6-5. That contest was tied at 5-5 in the fifth inning before the Gryphons pushed across the decisive run to win the game and eliminate the Wildcats. BGA finished the season 15-14.
