Stanford Wins With Walk-Off Home Run;Force Game Three

The Commodores will have to suit up for another game tomorrow as they were defeated 5-4  by the Stanford Cardinals, in heartbreaking fashion.

Vanderbilt tied the game up with a bases loaded hit by pitch in the top of the ninth. But the “Trees” responded with a game-ending homer to right from Wayne Taylor.

The Cardinals led 4-1 heading into the top of the 8th but Vandy pushed two runs across in the inning to give themselves a good chance in the top of the ninth.

Xavier Turner was hit by a pitch with nowhere to put him to tie the game and it seemed like the momentum was all on Vanderbilt’s side.

The series will go to a decisive game three tomorrow in downtown Nashville, where this time the ‘Dores will be the home team.
