St. Matthew School announced Monday that it has received a $65,000 gift from an anonymous benefactor that will provide a major and immediate upgrade to technology throughout the school.

In making the announcement at a faculty meeting Monday, Principal Tim Forbes said that the gift will fund a range of new hardware and software, including: a complete upgrade of the Computer Lab to Macs, New Apple IPad Air IIs throughout the school and Apple IPad Pros for K-3. The goal is to make every student bilingual from a computer standpoint—Apple and Microsoft—and adept in the utilization of Google applications. In addition, a major portion of the gift will fund professional development for the entire faculty.

In his meeting with the faculty, Mr. Forbes expressed his gratitude to the donor for making a transformational gift to the school.

“This gift is one of the largest single gifts in the history of St. Matthew School,” Mr. Forbes said, “and will be reflected in our students for many years to come. On behalf of every student, the faculty and the families of St. Matthew School, I have extended the most heartfelt gratitude to this generous individual.”

Mr. Forbes said the hardware and software implementation will begin later in February, with completion expected in three-four months. He also said that the professional development will begin immediately for all teachers and will continue on a regular basis through the next nine months. “I am particularly appreciative of this donor’s vision to fund both the equipment and the professional development. Training our talented teachers on this new technology will ensure the maximum benefit for our students.”
