Spring Hill Wrap-Up

Spring Hill

The City of Spring Hill, Tennessee is bustling as of lately. The BOMA will be interviewing new waste management companies looking for the best option for residents. The most important aspect with a change in companies will be the addition of curb-side recycling; a vote to determine the winner of the waste management contract is expected in September.

The option to purchase the Children’s Home property is under way. “The purchase of this property is something I have been encouraging since taking office,” said Mike Dinwiddie. “I think it should be preserved as open space to be used as a passive central park area for our residents. This is also a prime location to hold festivals, concerts and other outdoor events. The existing buildings on the property can be used by the City administratively, sold as commercial development to develop a formal downtown for the City or a combination of both. Obtaining this property presents an incredibly unique opportunity for the City to re-define itself.”

The vote was 8-0 in favor of changing the distance ruling for restaurants to be allowed to sell beer near a church property. The change does not affect the regulation for schools. “This allows restaurants to open in previous restaurant facilities that closed that are located close to Churches that have opened in our strip mall style buildings.  We have several locations in Spring Hill with this concern.  We did not receive any push back or concerns from our large Church population.  Spring Hill is blessed with a lot of Churches,” said Alderman Rick Graham.
