The Spring Hill Parks & Recreation Department announced a new event for Sept. 17 where the Port Royal Park splash pad will be available for the area’s dogs.

Residents are invited to bring their dogs out to the splash pad on Saturday, Sept. 17, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The “Doggy Splash” event will be the last day of operation for the splash pad in 2016 as the summer season comes to a close for the city’s parks department. The splash pad closes for human use on Sunday, Sept. 11.

According to Sonja Rine, recreation manager for the city’s park’s department, it has become popular among many municipal parks and recreation departments to host such a dog-friendly event at the end of the summer season.

The parks and recreation department has partnered with ServPro and Pet Pals of Maury County for the Doggy Splash Event.

Rine said that they hope to raise funds to improve Spring Hill’s only off-leash dog park, The Bark Park at Evans Park. She added that ServPro will hold a raffle at the event, with more info on it to be announced on later this week.
