The annual Spring Hill Pickin’ in the Park live music series will enter its seventh season this year, and now is the time for local musicians to get their names on the performance schedule.

Pickin’ in the Park is an outdoor, family-friendly event sponsored by the Spring Hill Parks & Recreation Department, featuring local musicians and songwriters of all kinds in and around the Spring Hill area. Most shows are held at Harvey Park, 4001 Miles Johnson Parkway, in Spring Hill, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. each month, May – September. Additional shows may be held at other venues.

Pickin’ in the Park is encouraging new talent to sign up and, as always, welcoming old friends back to the stage. To sign up and play, email or call event founder and organizer Matt Meyer at [email protected] or call or text 731-616-0664.

Any size group is welcome. If you are planning a larger group, please discuss your audio needs with Matt before signing up. Acts should prepare four to five family-friendly songs. Please be able to perform your own accompaniment, as this is not karaoke. (Allowing the use of backing tracks will be considered if it’s an original song). The amplification system provided includes two microphones on stands, two main speakers, and one on-stage monitor. Please bring your own instrument cables.

The 2019 Pickin’ in the Park dates are:

• May 25
• June 22
• July 27
• August 24
• September 28

Check local news media, the Pickin’ in the Park Facebook page, or signs at Harvey Park the day of the event for any event schedule changes. Anyone is welcome to play or attend. This is a family friendly event, with a playground (at Harvey Park) near the pavilion where the event is held. Restrooms are nearby.

The music performed at these monthly events generally includes a wide range of styles and genres – acoustic, singer-songwriter, rock, folk, bluegrass, country, Americana, and blues. Please bring chairs or blankets for comfort. Food trucks may be available some nights; watch the Facebook page or local news outlets for further announcements on this.
