Mayor Rick Graham has secured a $375,000 HOME grant from THDA to repair substandard homes for as many as 10 households of low income in Spring Hill.
The HOME program is funded by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and administered in part in Tennessee by THDA. With an additional $375,000 grant being awarded to the Maury County government, the $750,000 being distributed locally is the maximum amount that THDA is allowed to grant within a single county.
“All homes need maintenance over time, and Maury County and the City of Spring Hill are doing an exemplary job of identifying families in need and providing them with home repair services they would not otherwise have access to,” said THDA Executive Director Ralph M. Perrey.
“I would especially like to encourage senior citizens who have been unable to afford the upkeep on their homes to look into this program and give us the opportunity to help you restore your home to a safe and healthy condition,” said Mayor Graham.
The city government will work with the South Central Tennessee Development District to administer the program under policies and standards established by the city. Eligible homeowners will have 30 days to apply once the registration period begins, and qualified contractors will bid for the opportunity to conduct the home repairs.
HOME grants must be used for the preservation, or rehabilitation of affordable housing for low and very low income families and individuals.
