If you know a LEGO enthusiast be sure to tell them about the Spring Hill Library’s 1st Annual LEGO Tournament. It’s happening right when local schools are out for the holiday break so this could be the perfect diversion from the anticipation of Christmas and focus children on creating their entry into the contest.
LEGO creators can bring their build to the Library Monday – Wednesday, December 21-23 between 9:00am-7:00pm with the entry form. Everyone is invited to view and vote for their LEGO Crowd Favorite all day Monday and Tuesday, Dec. 28 and 29 & until noon on Wednesday, December 30.
The Spring Hill Library is looking for original creations, not one made from a kit or magazine instructions. All ages are invited to participate and possibly win gift certificates from the Play Well store or LEGO Store. Prizes will be awarded in 6 categories:
Preschool-K, Grades 1-2, Grades 3-4, Grades 5-7, Grades 8-12 & Adults. Within each category there will be three winners: 1st Place, Runner-up, and Crowd Favorite.
The rules and entry form are on the library’s website www.springhilllibrary.org.
“We have a LEGO club meeting twice a month at the library and it’s always surprising to see what engineering minds are among us,” said Marsha Gallardo, Children’s Librarian. “This is a chance for teen and adult builders as well, so be sure to stop in the library and see what it on display, and we’re counting on folks to vote for their favorite.”
The Library is bringing in local LEGO experts and enthusiasts from the sponsors, Play Well, Hobby Express, and Game Stop. After they make their decisions, the award ceremony will be at 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 30. There will be a total of 18 prizes awarded. The public is encouraged to come and see who the winners are. Pictures will be posted on the Spring Hill Library’s Facebook page.
