Here is a list of events happening at the Spring Hill library in November 2015.

Story Time: 10:00 a.m., Monday – Thursday. Stories, songs, and an art project; a new theme each week.

Baby Time: 9:15 a.m., Tuesdays & Fridays. A lapsit program for babies up to 24 months and their caregivers. We will sing, clap, and bounce to nursery rhymes and songs and learn a little baby sign language.

American Girl Club: 4:30 p.m., Monday, November 2. We are celebrating these well-written books with crafts, activities and more. We will focus on one doll and time period each month, on the first Monday at 4:30 p.m. and the third Saturday at 3:30 p.m. (pick one; same activities). In November we will focus on Kaya, a brave Native American Indian girl.

Mommy & Me Yoga: 9:15 a.m., Tuesday, November 3. Join Jessica Gray and learn how to do yoga with your baby.

Pokémon Club: 4:00 – 6:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 3. Bring your DS & cards. No sign up necessary.

The Night Owls: 5:30 p.m., Tuesday, November 3. The Night Owl Book Club shares a love of the mystery genre. The book selections are made twice a year and one book is read per month. The meeting consists of a discussion of the book and a time for socializing. For November we will be reading Go Set a Watchman by Harper Lee. Contact Jeannine Chase 615-302-8053 if interested.

Library Opens Late: 9:30, Wednesday, November 4. Due to a staff meeting, the Library will open ½ hour late.

Special Story Time with Library Pete: 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 4. An interactive literature parade, with music, puppets, juggling and books.

Financial Planning Seminar– 3 Sessions: 5:30 p.m., Wednesday, November 4, Monday, November 16, & Wednesday, November 18. Learn how money works and grows, about debt reduction tools & strategies, and savings plans. Presented by John Ellis.

Permanent Weight Loss Workshops: 2:30 & 4:00 p.m., Thursdays, November 5 & 12, and 10:00 a.m., Saturday, November 14. Say goodbye to diets forever and don’t gain a pound this holiday season. Learn about Natural Eating & lose weight effortlessly. Presented by Crystal Chester, RD, LDN.

Chicks with Sticks: 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m., Saturday, November 7 & 21. Knitting club open to all.

I Cre8 Art Class: 10:00 a.m., Saturday, November 7 . Art teacher Marcela Espejo will inspire you to create art that anyone can make and be proud to display. Open to all ages; no sign up necessary. Project: Birch Trees: Colorful Turkey Art.

Veteran’s Day Program: 5:00 p.m., Monday, November 9. Hear the story of the USS LST-325 (WW II Landing Ship Tank) from retired vet and SWAT Medic Police Officer Karl Plitt who volunteered on this vessel.

Live Theater: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe: 5:30 p.m., Tuesday, November 10. Step with us through the door of an old wardrobe and enter a snowy world laced with fantasy and wonder. There you will meet quite the cast of magical creatures as you accompany two intelligent and imaginative children, Lucy and Edmund, on their adventures. Presented by the Hampstead Stage Company, in New Hampshire.

Library Closed: Wednesday, November 11 for Veteran’s Day.

Dr. Who Teen Party: 3:30 – 5:30 p.m., Thursday, November 12. Come dressed as your favorite Doctor Who character or space alien. Make your own bow tie and marshmallow adipose. Enter raffle to win Doctor Who prize. Everyone who comes gets a free Doctor Who comic book.

Saturday LEGO Club: 10:00 a.m., Saturday, November 14. Monthly club for LEGO lovers. We will read a story for inspiration and then it’s creation time! Everyone welcome. Geared toward school-aged children. LEGO provided. Creations will be put on display. Quilt & Sewing Club: 12:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m., Saturday, November 14. Special Puppet Theater Workshop: 1:00 p.m., Saturday, November 14. Tweens and teens are invited to learn from ventriloquist and children’s entertainment performer Jill Thatcher. She will teach puppetry and performance techniques. Call the Spring Hill Library to register (931-486-2932.) Space is limited to 15. This is a great opportunity for those interested in theater, drama, writing, art, or a career working with children, or just plain having fun. You can also join Teen Coordinator Misty Bach in preparing future puppet show performances for children. The Theater Club will include: Stage performance in front of a live audience, behind the scenes show production, including prop making, studio recording, script writing, and more! Free Help with TennCare, CoverKids or HealthCare.gov : 1:30 – 4:30 p.m., Tuesday, November 17. Certified Application Counselors from Mercy Community Healthcare and Pathways to Health can help you navigate TennCare, CoverKids or HealthCare.gov. This is a FREE service. Counselors get paid through grants and are not associated with any health insurance company.

Chalk Painting Workshop: 5:30 p.m., Tuesday, November 17. Learn how to transform old shelves, picture frames, etc., into amazing décor using chalk paint. Nicole Corday from Vintage 615 will be here to demonstrate how to walk you through the steps of applying chalk paint and waxes. It’ll be like Pinterest come to life!

Creative Movement: 11:00 a.m., Thursday, November 19. Move and groove with Mrs. Chelsea Howell, owner of the local Children’s Ballet Theater.

Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 Release Party: 4:00 – 6:00 p.m., November 19. Celebrate the final theatrical installment of the Hunger Games trilogy, in theaters November 20. Nerf archery contest with prizes, courtesy of Carmike Cinema 12. Cornucopia of snacks. DIY mini bow and arrow craft. Learn knot tying skills.

Favorite Reads Book Club: 11:00 a.m. – 1:30 p.m., Friday, November 20. Looking for a book club to join? Come and join in.

Homeschool LEGO Club: 2:00 – 4:00 p.m., Friday, November 20. Come & build! LEGO provided. Especially for homeschoolers.

How to Hand Paint Photographs: 5:30 p.m., Monday, November 23. Robin Davies will demonstrate how to hand paint your photographs. She will also talk about what’s happening with the wild horses in New Mexico that inspire her work. You can see her dynamic photography on display at the Spring Hill Library throughout the month of November.

Thanksgiving Family Craft Time: 10:00 a.m., Monday & Tuesday, November 23 & 24. No Story Time this week. Families are invited to come and make a few special things to enhance the holiday; make a centerpiece, spiffy up each place setting, create a banner, and more. Crafts will be the same on both days; pick one please.

I Cre8 Art Class: 4:30 p.m., Wednesday, November 25 (monthly on the 4th Wednesday). Open to all ages; no sign up necessary. Art teacher Marcela Espejo will inspire you to explore art in fun ways. Project: Fruit Bowl.

Library Closed: Thursday & Friday, November 26 & 27 for the Thanksgiving holiday.

Preview of The Nutcracker Ballet, presented by Children’s Ballet Theatre: 3:00 p.m., Saturday, November 28. Highlights of the theatre’s upcoming classic Christmas show will be performed in costume.

Guitar 101: 5:30 p.m., Monday, November 30. Intro to acoustic, electric, and bass guitar with instructor David Parker. For beginners. Bring your instrument.
