The upset run for the Spring Hill Raiders concluded Friday night at Marshall County.

After going on the road to take down previously-undefeated Stone Memorial then Region 4-4A two seed Page in the first two rounds of the playoffs, the Raiders ran into a buzzsaw Friday in the quarterfinals.

The Tigers controlled both sides of the ball and cruised to a 53-13 win.

Marshall County scored seven touchdowns and five of them went to running back Kamron Liggett. Quarterback Bryce Wallace added 227 passing yards and a TD throw to Tre Crutcher, who had seven catches for 143 yards.

Liggett wasn’t the only running back who had a dominant performance. Spring Hill junior Dontae Smith rushed 21 times for 150 yards and two touchdowns.

Head coach Jay Emmons’ first season at the helm at Spring Hill started and finished strong. A four-game losing streak through the middle of the year had the Raiders dangerously close to not making the playoffs, but a 41-12 win over Lawrence County in the last week of the regular season gave them a chance.

They capitalized on that chance by outscoring their first two playoff opponents 73-39.
