Softball: Irish Inning Too Much For Cougars

Father Ryan’s four-run third inning proved too be enough Wednesday afternoon as the Lady Irish defeated Centennial 7-4 on the softball diamond.

Already leading 1-0, Carlie Jamison, Jessica Holmes, Rielly Anderson, and Keiana Horton all scored runs in the third off Cougar pitcher Kendall Carter. Anderson had an RBI double in the frame while Horton gets credit for an RBI single.

Centennial put a run on the Irish late in the contest, pushing three runs across in the top of the fifth as Father Ryan pitcher Rowan Jordan walked in two and allowed another on a wild pitch.

Cailin Hannon made the score 5-4 in the top of the sixth, taking home on an attempted pick off play.

That would be as close as Centennial would get though as the Lady Irish extended their advantage with two runs in the bottom of the frame.

It very well could have been Centennial in the driver seat early, but three Cougars were thrown out at home plate in the first inning.

The Lady Irish and Lady Cougars both next play in the Lady Warrior Southern Classic this weekend.
