SHPD Officer Injured in Crash While Transporting Inmate

On Monday afternoon a Spring Hill police officer was injured during in a three-car accident in Columbia.

The officer, who was taken to the hospital with neck pain after the crash on Nashville Highway, was transporting an inmate. The inmate was also taken to Tristar Hospital.

According to Lt. Justin Whitwell, Officer Josh Weber was stopped near Spring Hill High School when a vehicle rear-ended his patrol car, forcing it to hit a charter bus.

The bus was not carrying any passengers.

Weber, who complained of neck pain, was treated and released. The inmate sustained minor injuries from his knees biting the back-seat cage divider.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol is handling the investigation.
