Lazavric Prince is charged with kidnapping and domestic assault after a low-speed pursuit by Spring Hill Police.
On Monday the Spring Hill Emergency Communications Department received notice from Maury County Emergency Communications that a white Chevy Malibu was entering city limits on Highway 31. The vehicle was occupied by a male and female and a possible assault had occurred between the two while they were in the city of Columbia, according to a press release.
SHPD officers located the vehicle on Highway 31 close to Saturn Parkway. Officers activated emergency lights and sirens in an attempt to stop the vehicle. The vehicle failed to stop and proceeded northbound on Highway 31. The pursuit continued onto Duplex Road and officers discontinued the pursuit at Duplex Road and Commonwealth Drive. The suspect vehicle never reached speeds past 40 MPH.
Officers received information that the vehicle may be headed to an address on Fiona Way. Officers located the vehicle in a driveway at an address on Fiona Way. The female exited the vehicle immediately but the driver, later identified as Lazavric Prince of Spring Hill, remained in the vehicle until officers were able to talk him out of the vehicle without incident.
The Columbia Police Department (responded to Spring Hill to investigate the original complaint of an assault in their jurisdiction.) CPD charged Prince with kidnapping and domestic assault. SHPD charged Prince with evading arrest and driving on a revoked license. Prince was transported to the Maury County Jail.
