Show ‘Nashville’ Set Premiere Date but Without Britton

Recently picked up by the CMT network, the show ‘Nashville’  now has a date on when it will return to television. Fans will be able to watch ‘Nashville’ on Thursday, Janurary 5, announced CMT.

The show will also be available for streaming one day after showing on CMT through Hulu. At the end of season four, fans were just beginning to see Rayna James (Connie Britton) and Deacon Claiborne (Charles Esten) work through difficult times but will they  see the couple continue into season five?

Entertainment Weekly has reported that Connie Britton will only return to 10 out of the 22 episodes slated for season five.  EW also reported that they are hoping Britton will get on board for more episodes but at this time her deal is not final. The question becomes –  will the show be able to continue its storyline without Britton? Much of the tension and drama has surrounded Rayna James’ storyline and to take her character out of the mix could be detrimental to the show.

At this time, it appears that Hayden Panettiere is fully on board for the full 22 episodes. For Panettiere’s character, last season ended with the ultimate cliff hanger –  Juliet was involved in a plane crash but viewers were unsure of her fate.

Two other actors who have reported to not be returning for season five include Will Chase (Luke Wheeler) and Aubrey Peeples (Layla Grant). Chase has joined the upcoming ABC drama “Time After Time” as a series regular.
