SHHS Production of “The Glass Menagerie” Opens Next Week

The Glass Menagerie

Spring Hill High School’s production of the classic Tennessee Williams play, “The Glass Menagerie,” opens Thursday, Nov. 3.

“The Glass Menagerie” is a four-character memory play. Tom, the narrator and protagonist, introduces it as a memory play based on his recollection of his mother Amanda and his sister Laura.

Laura is disabled, and Amanda pushes her to have “gentleman callers” and to study shorthand and typing so that she may be employable. One night Tom invites a friend, Jim, to dinner and Laura realizes that he is someone she had a crush on in high school.

Melody Marse plays the dominating Southern matriarch Amanda. James Grossheim, Tom, and Hannah Burt, Laura, play her children, and the audience quickly discovers the significant problems they both have in life. Ricky Bonillas plays Jim, the unsuspecting gentleman caller.

Macy Hall serves as Stage Manager, and the production is directed by Lauri Kaye Burns. The production will run from Nov. 3-5.

The box office opens at 6 p.m. Seating begins at 6:30 p.m. and the production starts at 7 p.m. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students.
