Section of I-65 S to Close for Traffic Shift in Davidson County

Tennessee Department of Transportation contract crews will temporarily close a section of Interstate 65 South between State Route 155 (Briley Parkway) and Interstate 24 in Davidson County to prepare for a traffic shift. The work is scheduled as follows.

* Friday, August 7 at 8:00 p.m. through Saturday, August 8 at 6:00 a.m.

During the closure, all southbound traffic will be detoured at Exit 90 (SR 155/Briley Parkway). Message boards are already in place to alert motorists to the road closure. Motorists are advised to plan ahead and seek alternate routes.

The scheduled closure is weather dependent. Should inclement weather or unforeseen circumstances prevent work from occurring as scheduled, it will be rescheduled.

The work is part of the widening project that will expand I-65 from six to ten lanes. The closure is necessary to move barrier rail and restripe the roadway in order to shift traffic to the newly constructed outside lanes. The shift will allow crews to move to the next phase of construction, which will include removing and rebuilding the inside lanes between Dickerson Pike and Ewing Lane.

Motorists travelling on I-65 South after the scheduled closure should be aware of the new traffic pattern. All drivers are reminded the speed limit in the work zone is 45 mph.

The $50 million project is expected to be finished in October 2015.
