Other than the Volunteers surprising the Bulldogs, nothing much unusual went down in the SEC this week in men’s basketball.

Florida, winner of 18 straight and at 24-2 the No. 2 ranked team in the nation, delivered more of the same in beating No. 18 Kentucky and Auburn each by more than 10 points.

Kentucky, 20-6 and very comfortably holding the second place pot in the SEC, lost at home to Florida but took its revenge on Ole Miss winning in Oxford by 14 points.

Georgia, the best of the rest in the SEC so far at 14-11 overall with an 8-5 conference record, played much worse than Tennessee when the Bulldogs came to Nashville last week. The 16-10 Volunteers won by almost 20 points, 67-48.

UT is part of a four way tie for fourth place in the SEC, despite a better overall record than Georgia, because of its 7-6 SEC record.

Missouri, 19-7 overall but 7-6 in the SEC and tied with UT, probably will overtake Georgia before too long, for third in the conference. Mizz beat UT and Vandy back to back this week, taking two SEC wins away from Tennessee with it; before that it beat Arkansas.

Mizz, who were just 4-6 in conference before winning three straight, got the biggest boost this week in the SEC.
