Scout’s Pub is celebrating the “dog days of summer” with a dog-friendly happy hour on its outdoor patio on the last Tuesday of every month through October. The next Yappy Hour is scheduled for July 30 and will feature special food and drink deals from 3 to 9 p.m., dog goodies from local vendors, and more. Scout’s has also launched its new summer menu, with the addition of several health-conscious offerings and locally sourced ingredients.

“One of our favorite things about Franklin is that it’s such a dog-friendly community, and Scout’s patio is the perfect place for a summer Yappy Hour,” Sally Flinck, A. Marshall Hospitality Marketing Director, said. “By partnering with local organizations like the Williamson County Animal Center and various dog-focused vendors, we’re excited to make this event fun for both man and man’s best friend!”

The monthly event, held on the patio at Scout’s Pub, allows guests to enjoy an extended happy hour which includes 2-for-1 select drafts and spirits, as well as specials on wine, pizza and starters. Four-legged friends will not be forgotten as dog-friendly goodies will be available for purchase from Painted Paw Studios and other local vendors. A puppy dog kissing booth, provided by the Williamson County Animal Center, will also be on-site with adoptable dogs in hopes that they will find a new family.

In the kitchen, Chef Jesse Quatro and his team have been hard at work creating Scout’s summer menu, with an emphasis on seasonal flavors, locally sourced ingredients and more health-sensitive options than ever before, such as optional gluten-free crusts and buns for the restaurant’s popular pizzas and burgers.

Summer standouts include salmon tacos topped with arugula, smokey sriracha aioli and peach-mango-watermelon salsa on a corn tortilla; a grilled and chilled summer squash salad with citrus ricotta-goat cheese, arugula, grilled pita, pistachios and a mint-chile vinaigrette; and a herbed pappardelle pasta topped with parsley, garlic, lemon, chile, parmesan and cracked pepper.

Seeking to highlight more local purveyors, Scout’s new menu also saw the addition of Bear Creek Farm as the beef source for its mesquite-smoked Denver steak and all burgers. Cheeses from Harmony Lane Farm are also incorporated on several starters, salads and pizzas.
