Scott Miller Named New Band Director of Centennial High School

Centennial High School principal Dr. Leigh Webb announced Friday that Scott Miller will be welcomed as the new band director, starting in June.

“In addition to his success as a teacher and band director, Mr. Miller’s passion for pushing students to high levels of success, while holding students accountable for representing their families and schools with dignity, made him stand apart from other candidates,” said Webb, “He has a detailed plan of success for the CHS Band, and I have great confidence in him leading our students to reach those milestones.”

Miller comes to Centennial with plenty of experience on hand. For the past 13 years he was the director of Antioch High School’s band, and during that time he led their band to 9 consecutive years of Superior Ratings at MTSBOA Concert Festival, two Tennessee Bandmaster Association Sweepstakes Awards, and a “2014 Class A Championship” at MTSU’s Contest of Champions.

In addition to directing bands, Miller is an accomplished composer, music arranger and noted leader in the world of music. He served as the Conference Equipment Co-Chair for the Tennessee Music Association All-State Conference from 2003-2011 and was an Executive Board Member of the MTSBOA from 2011-2013.

He currently serves on the Education Advisory Council for Music Makes Us, a program based in Nashville to strengthen traditional school music while adding “a contemporary curriculum that embraces new technologies and reflects a diverse musical landscape.”

At Centennial High School, Miller will be teaching Music Theory AP and Band Courses for the 2014-15 school year.
