Scott Hamilton is releasing a new book in 2020.

People Magazine reports the book will be released on February 4, 2020. Hamilton has authored other books but unlike the others, this one is a children’s book titled Fritzy Finds a Hat, one that helps children talk about cancer. And Hamilton had a little help from country music artist, Brad Paisley who illustrated the book.

The children’s book tells the story of an ice skating son whose mom has cancer. A personal story for Hamilton as his mother died from breast cancer 40 years ago. Fritzy is on the search for a hat that his mother can use while she is going through treatment.

Hamilton shared that Paisley is so busy, it was a challenge to have him commit to the book.

“He’s extremely dedicated to his art, and he loves to paint,” Hamilton told People, praising the illustrations as “so extremely well done.”

Since the passing of his mother, Hamilton always looks for ways to honor his mother.

“I think this is a reminder of how she went through her battle, and after she passed, that was when I decided that I wanted to honor her every way I could,” Hamilton explains. “This book is a beautiful way to do that.”

Scott Hamilton will be hosting his 4th Annual Scott Hamilton and Friends event at Bridgestone Arena on Sunday, November 24, 5 p. This year marks the 35th anniversary of his 1984 Gold medal win at the Olympics. In celebration of this milestone, the event will feature 80s music from Kenny Loggins, Gavin DeGraw, MercyMe, Runaway June, John Elefante, Johnathan Cain, and Sixwire.

The event features Olympic skaters Meryl Davis and Charlie White, Katia Gordeeva, Kaitlyn Weaver and Andrew Poje, Jeffrey Buttle, Mirai Nagasu, and  Ashley Cain-Gribble, just to name a few.
