School Roundup: National Merit Scholars, Celebrity Basketball Games and Getting Ready for the Last Day of School!

National Merit Scholars
Seven Williamson County students have been named winners of one of the nation’s top academic honors.  The students listed below are among the recipients of this year’s National Merit $2,500 Scholarship.

National Merit $2,500 Scholarship winners are the Finalists in each state judged to have the strongest combination of accomplishments, skills and potential for success in rigorous college studies.  The number of winners named in each state is proportional to the state’s percentage of the nation’s graduating high school seniors.

Just 2,500 high school students in the country are chosen for this award out of a pool of 1.5 million.  It comes with a $2,500 scholarship to the college of their choice.

Charity Celebrity Basketball Game at BGA
On May 29th, BGA will host Clash of the Titans, a charity basketball game, with proceeds providing health needs to poverty-stricken children in Preu through Vision Trust.

The game pits the Legends against the Stars. On the Legends Team is: Kevin Dyson, Chris Sanders, Keith Bulluck, Frank Wycheck, Marcus Bodie, Dontae Jones, Matt Freije, Shan Foster, Neil O’Donnell and more, coached by Rob Johnson, from Bethel World Outreach. The Stars Team comprises of: Jason McCourty, Michael Griffin, Nate Washington, Michael Preston, Coty Sensabaugh, Brett Kern, Cortlan Finnegan, Chris Taft and others, coached by Mike Glenn, of Brentwood Baptist.

Also at the game will be special guests Steve Ulrey of 104.5 The Zone, Taryn Foshee, Founder of Women Can Talk Sports and Brenna Mader, Miss Tennessee USA 2013.
