The School Board established zone lines for the new elementary school on Gosey Hill Road and undeveloped subdivisions in the southern part of the county at its February 18 meeting.

Currently, Oak View Elementary has 839 students with a building capacity of 695 students. This re-zoning plan is projected to reduce Oak View Elementary’s student population to 380 for the 2019-20 school year. The new elementary school, which will share a building with Oak View Elementary when it opens in the fall, has a projected student population of 510.

The new school building will open during the 2019-20 school year.

For its first year, only Oak View Elementary students will attend the new elementary school. This new elementary school will be a full feeder to Page Middle. Oak View Elementary will become a full feeder to Thompson’s Station Middle.

The School Board voted to delay a decision on the Mill Creek area re-zoning.
