Scene Around Town: Outside the Box Girl Scout Event

Outside the Box

Girl Scouts of Middle Tennessee (GSMIDTN) had desserts before dinner at Outside the Box. On Tuesday, February 26, 2019, GSMIDTN hosted their annual Outside the Box, a dessert tasting featuring unique renditions of Girl Scout Cookies crafted by local restaurateurs in Franklin.

Restaurants who took part in the event included Papa C Pies, Cork & Cow, Merridee’s Breadbasket and Momma Nik’s Cheesecake. Attendees were given tickets to vote for their favorite dessert and the winner this year was Merridee’s who used a the Tag-a-Long cookie creating an ice cream sandwich with peanut butter ice cream covered with chocolate and wrapped in Girl Scout green foil paper.

The fourth annual event also honored Brenda Lee award-winning singer who started performing at the age of six. Lee is a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the Country Music Hall of Fame and is best known for her song “Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree” which can still be heard during the holiday season.

Proceeds from Outside the Box will directly benefit girls in Middle Tennessee by way of programs, summer camps, and volunteer resources. Girl Scouting in Williamson County is experiencing exponential growth and currently serves more than 3,300 girls and 1,600 adults.
