On June 19th, day campers at Deer Run Camps & Retreats in Thompson’s Station were treated to a visit from “Gnash”, the Nashville Predators much-loved mascot. Gnash visited with campers, posed for photos and participated in several camp activities during his time at Deer Run. The kids had a blast competing in a dodgeball tournament and challenging him to carpetball. Gnash’s visit during the summer is highly anticipated each year and is always a surprise to the campers. They find out the day before and are therefore able to wear their favorite Preds gear to camp in support of the popular mascot.

The Gnash visits are one of the many benefits that stem from Deer Run’s ongoing partnership with the Nashville Predators Foundation, the Nashville NHL team’s charity organization. Through their partnership over the years, Deer Run has received various grants from the Nashville Predators Foundation. Among other things, these generous grants have enabled Deer Run to provide camper scholarships for kids in need, purchase a camp bus, and build the “Preds Zone Challenge Course”, a low ropes course aimed at the younger campers attending Deer Run. Like the Predators Foundation, Deer Run is also a 501(c)(3) charity organization and so depends on donations and support just like this from all around the community. Deer Run Camp founders David and Liz Gibson and the entire staff at Deer Run would like to thank the Nashville Predators Foundation for their dedicated partnership. Says Mr. Gibson, “The Predators generosity over the years has helped enable us to live out our mission statement, which is to provide excellent camps and retreats that inspire a transformational relationship with Jesus Christ and strengthen relationships with family and friends.”

Deer Run is currently celebrating 20 years in operation. The camp provides programmed day and overnight summer camp experiences for children ages 5 to 18 plus family camp experiences for all ages. You can learn more by visiting DeerRun.camp or by calling 615-794-2918.
