Scene Around Town: Chukkers For Charity-Lexie Armstrong

Chukkers For Charity, which took place on Sept 12th, was a great event raising money for two local non-profits: The Rochelle Center and Saddle UP!. One of the strong forces behind the event is Lexie Armstrong, co-chair. Our Donna Vissman took time to talk to Lexie about this annual fundraiser.

About the Rochelle Center:
In 1968, long time area educator W.R. Rochelle, began the foundation for the agency to offer supports for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Supports would enhance skills necessary for individuals to become as independent as possible in our community. Today’s Rochelle Center continues that mission with on-campus day programming, in addition to residential services. Learn more here.

About Saddle Up!

Started as a dream and launched as a one night a week program – in daylight and good weather only – for 10 students, Saddle Up! is now a year-round therapeutic riding program for children with disabilities in the Middle Tennessee area. The program will serve nearly 180 children/youth in 2015.

Saddle Up! is the oldest and largest program of its kind in the region, exclusively serving children and youth who have disabilities. Learn more here.
