Santa’s Trees & Brookside Properties Present $2,500 Check to Centennial High

Christmas may be over, though Santa’s Christmas Trees continues to spread cheer throughout Williamson County. Owner Jim McLeod, along with Amy McDade from Brookside Properties, recently presented a $2,500 check to Dr. Leigh Webb, principal of Centennial High School.

An annual tradition in its eighth year, the donation represents a portion of tree sales from the 2016 holiday season at the Walgreens at 530 Cool Springs Blvd. “Brookside Properties continues to provide us with the use of the lot at Walgreens for the benefit of Centennial High School,” said McLeod. “We are thrilled to continue to fund beautification projects at the school.”

“Centennial is so proud of our ongoing partnership with Santa’s Trees, Brookside and Walgreens,” said Dr. Leigh Webb, Centennial High School principal. “This year’s donation is funding the tree replacement between our campus and Mallory Lane.”

The school, in partnership with the City of Franklin, recently removed a line of overgrown trees that, based on the City’s arborist’s evaluation, was deemed to be the wrong type of trees and was producing a safety hazard to the driving lane onto campus.

In addition to Centennial High School, five other area schools benefit from the Christmas tree sales, with more than $225,000 donated over the past 20 years.

About Santa’s Christmas Trees
At age 17, Jim McLeod thought it would be fun to set up a small lot and sell Christmas trees. In years past, he had sold trees as a part-time job and enjoyed it enough to venture out on his own. So he got to work and established his first lot on Hillsboro Road at Grassland in 1985.

In 32 years, Santa’s Trees has expanded from one lot to eight lots, including Brentwood, Cool Springs, Grassland, Mt Juliet, Hendersonville, and three locations in Nashville. Every Christmas, Jim’s 100 plus staff members, known as Treemen, are eager to share in the holiday experience. These Treemen include seasonal workers, such as teachers, landscapers and musicians, who come back each year to work at the lot. Thirty Treemen have been with Santa’s Trees for at least five years, and twelve have been there for 12 years or more. They say there’s nothing better than selling the centerpiece to so many families’ holidays, and that’s why they love their job so much.

Not only does Santa’s Trees make tree-shopping enjoyable and informative, it offers a high-quality product at a great value. Since Santa’s Trees began in 1985, Jim has prided himself on selling only premium trees that are freshly cut every week, with a dark green color, lush foliage, excellent needle retention and strong branches.
