Santa’s Trees and Brookside Properties Donate $2,500 to Centennial High School

nta's Tree Donation to CHS

For the past nine years, Santa’s Christmas Trees, Brookside Properties and Walgreens at 530 Cool Springs Blvd. have joined together to spread holiday cheer that extends well beyond the Christmas season.

Each year, a donation representing a portion of tree sales from the 2017 holiday season is made to Centennial High School. This year’s donation of $2,500 was recently presented to Centennial High School’s Principal Chris Hames.

“Centennial High School is thankful for such generous community partners,” said Hames. “Thank you to Walgreens for allowing Santa’s Trees and Brookside to use their parking lot in an effort to raise money for Centennial High School. We truly appreciate their longstanding partnership and consistent support of Cougar Nation. This year, we will be able to complete many campus upgrades and fund some unique student support opportunities because of their financial gift.”

“With the continued efforts of Santa’s Trees and the graciousness of Walgreens allowing the use of their parking area, we are thrilled to be able to contribute to Centennial High School another year,” said Amy McDade, Commercial Property Manager | Affiliate Broker at Brookside Properties, Inc. “We look forward to working with Jim McLeod and Walgreens to maintain this tradition for many more years to come.”

In addition to Centennial High School, Santa’s Trees Owner, Jim McLeod donates to five other area schools annually.

About Santa’s Christmas Trees

At age 17, Jim McLeod thought it would be fun to set up a small lot and sell Christmas trees. In years past, he had sold trees as a part-time job and enjoyed it enough to venture out on his own. So he got to work and established his first lot on Hillsboro Road at Grassland in 1985.

In 34 years, Santa’s Trees has expanded from one lot to eight lots, including Brentwood, Cool Springs, Grassland, Mt Juliet, Hendersonville, and three locations in Nashville. Every Christmas, Jim’s 100 plus staff members known as Treemen are eager to share in the holiday experience. These Treemen include seasonal workers, such as teachers, landscapers and musicians, who come back each year to work at the lot. Thirty Treemen have been with Santa’s Trees for at least five years, and twelve have been there for 12 years or more. They say there’s nothing better than selling the centerpiece to so many families’ holidays, and that’s why they love their job so much.

Not only does Santa’s Trees make tree-shopping enjoyable and informative, it offers a high-quality product at a great value. Since Santa’s Trees began in 1985, Jim has prided himself on selling only premium trees that are freshly cut every week, with a dark green color, lush foliage, excellent needle retention and strong branches.
