Ruby Tuesday

Since Ruby Tuesday, at the south end of the Hill Center at 235 Franklin Road in Brentwood, shut down in August 2016 the building has sat vacant.

Not for much longer, if a proposed Jason’s Deli site plan there gains approval at the Monday evening Brentwood Planning Commission meeting.

The plans for newest location of the Beaumont, Texas,-based national chain were discussed on Thursday morning at the planning commission pre-meeting briefing session.

A fast-casual sub shop somewhat in the mold of a Panera, Jason’s Deli already has one Williamson County location, on Mallory Lane in Franklin. Regionally, there is one in Nashville, another in Murfreesboro and plans for one in Mt. Juliet. The restaurant, which has 266 locations in 28 states with 11 in Tennessee, specializes in sandwiches, salads and soups, serves such as pasta and paninis, and also features a self-serve salad bar. Check out the menu here.

The most significant change proposed to the former Ruby Tuesday building is the addition of a drive-thru, which seemed to be somewhat of a sticky wicket for several planning commissioners.

They noted that the Franklin location does not have one. Planner Janet Donahue suggested an outdoor patio would instead be more appropriate, given the location is part of the pedestrian-centric Hill Center development.
