The 2014 Music Country Grand Prix, Middle Tennessee’s premier equestrian show jumping competition, will take place on Saturday, May 31st at Brownland Farm in Franklin (1155 Hillsboro Road). The Music Country Grand Prix features top riders and horses from across the nation, and many former participants have moved on to win Olympic medals and become the best in the sport. It will also feature the largest victory purse to date at $40,000.
“We are working to make this year’s event the best yet, with exciting competition, exclusive silent auction items and delicious catering, all to benefit the kids at Saddle Up!,” said Music Country Grand Prix Chairs Sarah Ingram and Jennifer Pennington.
Since 2005, the Music Country Grand Prix has raised and donated in excess of $800,000 for Saddle Up!, the oldest and largest therapeutic Middle Tennessee nonprofit organization providing horse-based programs for children and youth with disabilities. Since its founding in 1991, Saddle Up! has served almost 1,100 children, provided more than 42,000 hours of services and cared for more than 110 noble horses who serve the program.
Saddle Up! offers recreational therapeutic riding, physical and occupational therapy, the Saddle Up! Equestrian Club, and equine facilitated learning programs. Saddle Up! has a volunteer corps of more than 500 people who in 2013 alone provided over 17,000 hours.
Gates open at 3:30pm and the competition begins at 5pm on May 31st.
