Royals Pay Homage to the King in Tennessee Over the Weekend

Over the weekend, Prince Harry and his older brother, Duke of Cambridge, William, were in Memphis, Tennessee  for the wedding of their longtime pal, Guy Pelly, London nightclub owner.  Pelly married Elizabeth Wilson who is the American heiress to the Holiday Inn Hotel empire.  Her grandfather Klemmons Wilson began the Holiday Inn chain back in 1951.

Wilson attended the University of Virginia and in 2003 was named the Queen of the Memphis Carnival.  Wilson went on to study at Georgetown where she earned a Master’s in art and museum studies.  Wilson also studied overseas which began her love affair with Europe and eventually moving to London where she met Pelly at a friend’s party.

Other royals attending the weekend festivities included Princess Eugenie of York — daughter of Prince Andrew and Sarah, the Duchess of  York — and her sister, Princess Beatrice. Prince William’s wife, the former Kate Middleton and now Duchess of Cambridge, remained in England with the couple’s infant son, George, as to not cause a media frenzy distracting from the couple’s wedding day.

While in Memphis, the wedding party enjoyed  some of the south’s famous Rendezous dry rubbed ribs.  The 180 guests enjoyed a buffet of ribs,  pork shoulder, chicken, brisket, beans and slaw.  Also on the agenda, a visit to Graceland where the princes were seen leaving with Elvis Presley type sunglasses.  Priscilla Presley tweeted on Friday ” So happy Prince William, Prince Harry and the wedding group had a good time on their tour of Graceland.”

On Saturday, Pelly and Wilson were married at the Memphis Hunt and Polo Club.  Following the ceremony, guest attended a costume party where entertainment was provided by The Jimmy Church Band.
