Kate Middleton in New Zeland

by Donna Vissman

Is anyone else disappointed that the Duke and Duchess’ of Cambridge nineteen day tour of New Zealand and Australia has come to an end? It has been a photo documentary of various sights and for those who take note of Kate’s fashion, it has been more about a fashion documentary.

If you are paying close attention, there have been some changes made to Kate’s wardrobe for this trip. The Queen issued a dictum on how Kate should dress on this tour. Hemlines are to be knee length or longer, more statement jewelry, and she was encouraged to wear tiaras favored by the Queen.

Kate chose designers from the country she was visiting. While visiting in New Zealand, she wore designer Emilia Wickstead who is from New Zealand but now lives in London ((pictured above).

She always dressed appropriately for the occasion. When she was at the beach in Australia, she wore a dress by Zimmerman called the Romer Day Dress with Stuart Weitzman wedges. Did anyone see her jog down the beach in those wedges? Impressive, to jog on the beach in tennis shoes but in wedges, all I can say is Wow!

But I can’t leave out baby George. I’m sure many a baby this past Easter could rival one of those sailboat smocked outfits that baby George seems to wear so frequently. As a matter of fact, I think our southern ways of dressing our babies is very similar to the royals –smocking, all white outfits, and have you seen those cute john-johns? Yes, they are all southern approved!
