Rickshaw Run from Spring Hill to India

by Freelance Writer Josh Belcher

Meet the Indiana Jones of Spring Hill, Tennessee:  Mitchell Plymesser, or “Middle Tennessee Mitch” as I like to call him for his inspiring sense of adventure and willingness to raise money for charity along the way. Mitch alongside his team mates David Ryner, and Derek Owens have decided to take part in a truly amazing race called the Rickshaw Run. The race is set up by a group called The Adventurists. Mitch and his  team, who all have special skills to bring to the adventure, have decided not to do just sit by as the world turns, but to get involved and see what our planet has to offer. The tem plans on driving  from Shilong to Cochin, India on a rickshaw. For those of you not familliar a rickshaw is basically a bench with three wheels and a lawmmower motor. The money they raise will help save the rain forest in Peru, and provide clean water to local villages in Niger, Africa.

According to Mitch: “. The charity we are racing for is called Cool Earth, which is a charity that helps to preserve rainforests. To learn a little bit more about The Adventurists and this race, here is a link to their website :http://www.theadventurists.com/ . The members of the team I am apart of are: David Ryner (our team leader and the brains of this whole thing), Derek Owens (the mechanic to keep our Rickshaw Running), and myself (Co-captain and outdoorsman). ”
Mitch continues: ‘”The race starts August 4th and will last 3 weeks. I wanted to do this race because traveling and helping a good cause are two things I want to do with my life. Also, we all are wanting to get away from the hum drum of everyday life and try to experience another aspect as to what it means to live. I know I feel I need a change in my life and I feel that this race will do just that for me.”

The team is selling shirts at this website: https://www.booster.com/chai. Money that is received will be used to help with gas, lodging, and food. Any money left over will go towards the charity, in addition to what the team is giving to the charity.”
