The annual Retirement Celebration for the Franklin Special School District will be held to honor over 30 retirees on May 1 in the Freedom Intermediate School theater.

There will be a ceremony with awards given to each retiree for his or her years of service, and the ceremony will be followed by a light dinner. Dr. Snowden and Board Chairman Sherry Badger will speak at the beginning of the program, but each retiree will be recognized individually by their direct supervisor or principal.

“The retirement celebration is highly anticipated each year and is a very special time to recognize each retiree personally,” said Susannah Gentry, communications specialist for the Franklin Special School District.  “They will receive a special gift from the district, along with our deep gratitude for their dedicated service to the children and families of the school district.”

There will be about 30 teachers, cafeteria staff, and office associates honored at the celebration this year. The event is free and open to the public.
