In a 70 to 2 vote just after noon, Franklin Rep. Jeremy Durham has been expelled from the Tennessee House of Representatives.

Rep. Susan Lynn (R-Mt. Juliet) brought the resolution forward during the first day of the special-called session,. Unlike yesterday, Durham appeared in the legislature. He had the opportunity to defend himself before he promptly left in the middle of the session.

Lynn brought up the resolution for expulsion in light of the findings in an Attorney General’s report. The report had pages worth of allegations from female legislators, lobbyists and interns, including examples of inappropriate text messages, offering an under-age intern alcohol and inappropriate sexual conduct in his office in the legislature. He also lost his re-election bid to challenger Sam Whitson in the Aug. 4 primary.

This is a developing story.
