Rep. Blackburn Visit one of Many Spring Hill Library Events

The Spring Hill library released its list of December events earlier this week. Highlights include a visit from Rep. Marsha Blackburn on Dec. 17, as well as a variety of shows and adult education classes and clubs.

 Meet U.S. Rep. Marsha Blackburn: 9– 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 17.  Come and meet the newly re-elected congressman. A light breakfast and coffee will be provided. Please bring a canned good to donate to The Well in Spring Hill. Everyone is invited.

Each1Teach1 – Teen volunteers help senior citizens learn basic skills on technology devices. Call the library to sign up for time when teens are available (931-486-2932).  The one-on-one teaching sessions will take place at the cafe tables throughout the library.

Baby Time: 9:15 a.m., Tuesdays & Fridays.  A lap sit program for babies up to 24 months and their caregivers. Sing, clap, and bounce to nursery rhymes and songs and learn a little baby sign language. No Baby Time the Tuesday, Dec. 13, and the last 2 weeks of December.

Story Time: 10 a.m., Monday – Thursday. Story books, and singing and art projects. It is the same theme for a week so you can come on a day that fits you. No sign up necessary. No Story Time Tuesday, Dec. 13, and the last 2 weeks of December.

Read to Skye!: 4:30 – 5:30, Mondays, Dec. 5, 12, & 19.  For children learning to read or who just want to read to a dog. Skye is a 2-year old English Cream Retriever specially-trained Therapy Dog who loves to listen to stories. Children are encouraged to bring a book or two or pick out several at the Library beforehand. Each child will have 10-15 minutes of reading time. Sign up required. Sign up here.

SHIP Counseling: 9 a.m. – 12 p.m., Tuesdays until Dec. 6. Tennessee Medicare Assistance. call either 1-877-801-0044 or 931-379-2927 to schedule an appointment for Healthcare counseling at the Library.

Home School LEGO Club: 10:30, Friday, Dec. 2. Come to make your own unique creation. Especially for homeschooled students. LEGOS provided.

Chess Club: 3:30 – 5:00 p.m., Friday, Dec. 2 (first Friday of the month). The Chess Club is an opportunity for ages 12 & up to play friendly games of chess against their peers in a low-stress environment.

Santa & Mrs. Claus:  10 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 3.  Kids, bring your lists, and parents, bring your camera.  Come and tell Santa what you’re wishing for.  Balloon animals and more.

Chicks with Sticks: 10 a.m., Saturdays, Dec. 3 & 17.  A knitting club open to all.

International Ninja Day:  5– 6 p.m., Monday, Dec. 5. Games + Food = Holiday Happiness! Tweens and teens are invited to come and play Ninja Slap and the Musical Chairs of Dare, and make Ninja Pizzas (jelly bean and sausage or pick pepperoni).

 4OJOS!: After School Spanish Story Time: 4:30 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 7.  Stories, games, and music in Spanish. For Spanish-speaking children as well as those who want to learn Spanish.

Open Suitcase Session: 4:30 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 8. We’re going to Brazil! Vanda Montgomery will share what the holidays are like in Brazil and customs of the country that she most appreciates.

Special Baby Time with Mother Goose: 9:15 a.m., Friday, Dec. 9. Mother Goose is back with more nursery rhymes, silly songs, and finger plays for the babies up to 2 years old.

I Cre8 Art Class: 10 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 10. Open to all ages; no sign up necessary. Art teacher Marcela Espejo will show you how to make holiday art.

“The Award Goes To …Readers” Book Club:  10– 11:30 a.m. (2nd Saturday), Saturday, Dec. 10.

Carol of the Cellos: 12:30 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 10.  Drop in for a holiday concert and hear beautiful music performed by the students of Rebecca Vendemo with members of the Spring Hill Orchestra.

The Nutcracker Preview: 3 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 10.  Experience a sneak preview of The Nutcracker ballet performed by members of the Children’s Ballet Theatre.  You can purchase tickets via their website and see the full production at the Cherry Theater the following weekend.

Christmas Open House: 11 – 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 13.  You are invited to come and enjoy some delicious food and help us celebrate another great year of library programs and services.

Wills – Are They Necessary:  5:30 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 13. Attorney Amy Cross Nance will explain why you need one and trusts that you can develop within a will.

4OJOS!: MORNING Spanish Story Time: 11 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 14.  We’ve added another Spanish Story Time – every 2nd Wednesday morning at 11 a.m. Stories, games, and music in Spanish. For Spanish-speaking children as well as those who want to learn Spanish.

Adult Coloring Class:  5 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 14. Have you joined in on the latest trend today? It’s Coloring for Adults. Registration is required.  Class size is limited to 25.  Supplies will be provided, or you can bring your own. Sign up at the Library or call 931-486-2932.

Creative Movement: 11 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 15 (every 3rd Thursday). Preschoolers are invited to stretch, move, and dance to upbeat music with Miss Marcela.

Blind Christmas Cookie Contest & DIY Minion Ornament: 4:30 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 15.  For teens and tweens. Cookies and Minions, best combination ever! See you there!

Pokémon Club: 1 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 17.  Bring your DS and cards to trade.

Free Help with Healthcare: 1:30 – 4 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 20.
