Register Today for YMCA Winter Youth Basketball Leagues

Registration is now open for winter youth basketball leagues at your local YMCA. If your child loves sports, this is a great way to keep them active as we experience colder weather. Plus, team sports are a great way to teach children structured play, help them fine turn those motor skills and learn to work together with others.

The YMCA has several youth sports teams, including basketball programs for kids of all ages. Registration for various basketball programs is open now to current members and will be open to the public on Oct 24th. Here’s a look at the different programs available at a YMCA near you.

Jr. Tykes Basketball
This program is designed for children 3-5 years of age. It’s a great way to introduce young kids to team sports. The program is an introductory basketball experience in a clinic setting with a focus on fundamental skill development.

There’s no better place for your child to play youth basketball than the Y. After all, YMCA helped invent the sport with the help of James Naismith, who was working for the YMCA International Training School in Massachusetts. Today, YMCA continues to be a leader in promoting health and fitness for all ages from children to seniors by offering fitness classes and sports programs across the United States. Locally, YMCA continues to thrive with growing locations despite the growth of for-profit gyms. They do this by staying connected with the community and staying hands-on with the children.
