Reds Caravan Draws Big Crowd At Galleria

On Friday night, the Cincinnati Reds Caravan southern tour made their Nashville area stop at CoolSprings Galleria. In the event’s first year on the south side of downtown, around 300 fans came out for the event.

This year’s southern leg of the tour featured current Reds centerfielder Billy Hamilton, top prospect Jesse Winker, new general manager Dick Williams, color analyst Jeff Brantley, public address announcer Joe Zerhusen, and Reds owner Bob Castellini. For the Nashville stop, local resident and starting shortstop Zack Cozart joined his teammates for the autograph session. A surprise guest was announced at the event, with Baseball Hall of Famer and member of the legendary “Big Red Machine” Cincinnati teams of the ‘70s Joe Morgan. The players answered questions for 30 minutes before signing autographs and taking pictures for two hours for the fans in attendance.

“It looks to be a great turnout. We always like coming down to Nashville. Last year, I know we were a little farther north of the city,” Zerhusen said of the stop. “This time I know we have a few more people with us this time. This is a fantastic turnout. Nashville is a great place. We have a lot of people that say, ‘Hey. You guys need to keep coming down here.’ The fanbase keeps growing and growing, and we like that.”

The Reds Caravan gives a good kickoff to the Major League Baseball season, particularly for fans of baseball’s oldest professional franchise. As the season approaches, be sure to follow the Williamson Source for our preview of the upcoming season.
