Recycle with the Blue Bag Program

Blue-Bag-Program

“Get in the Habit,” says Aldermen Dana McLendon who never thought the program would take off when she began it last Christmas. “Honestly, in the beginning I didn’t think the Blue Bag Recycling program would catch on, but it’s something I do in my home every day. We need to get more residents into the habit. It really is easy, if I can do it, so can anyone!”

“The blue bag program has saved money for me and my neighbors,” said Alderman Pearl Bransford. “We became educated on the items that can be recycled and because of that we are able to decrease the loads going to the landfill saving the City, and the taxpaying residents, money in tipping fees.”

Blue bags are sold in most locations that sell trash bags including Kroger, Publix, Lowes, Home Depot, Sam’s Club, Costco, Harpeth True Value and Wal-Mart.  The cost is about the same as for trash bags and residents will use less regular trash bags.  See a video about the campaign at YouTube.

Won’t you help the city with its goal to have more than a mere 50 percent participation? Recycling should be a way of life for everyone; it benefits you, your neighbors and the community by reducing landfill waste.
