Rebels keep rolling; Summit needs extras

Franklin High School (5-3) earned a sweep over their Williamson County rivals Wednesday night with a 6-3 victory.

The Rebels drew first blood with a sac fly courtesy of Nick Hutchins. That scored Austin Windstead and his team was on the board in the top of the 1st.

Winstead would drive in a run of his own with a base hit in the top of the second, which was part of a two run Rebel inning.

Independence would get two runs back in the bottom half but the Rebels would respond with two more in the top half of the third.

Joe Deffatta singled in Matt Hargreaves on an 0-2 pitch to extend Franklin’s lead  to 5-2.

Alex Paul would get the win for Franklin. He went 5 innings allowed just 3 runs, 2 of them earned and just two hits.

The Rebels will play Smyrna on March 24th. Check back here for highlights from that game.  Independence play Bartlett on March 21st.

Other games: Summit needed extras before they pulled off a 1-0 win over Dickson Co in eight innings. Summit is now 4-1 in conference.
