Reading Programs for Every Member of Your Family

School is coming to an end and the Main Library is prepared to keep your brain busy with summer reading programs for grown-ups and teens. Beginning on Saturday, May 16, stop by the library to pick up information about the Summer Reading Programs for children, teens, and adults, too.  

Here’s some information on all the reading programs.

The Reading Program for Grown-ups, Escape the Ordinary, will include new programs, movies, and other surprises.  You can participate in weekly drawings, in which prizes will be given out!  To be eligible to win a prize, anyone over 18 has to read a book and write a brief review, either in paper form or by email to [email protected].  Beginning on May 16, stop by the Library to pick up a schedule of events and book review forms. 

Escape the Ordinary kicks off with a  Movie Night at 6 p.m. Thursday, May 14.  As a sneak peek to the library’s Summer Reading Program for Grown-Ups, they’re showing ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ on the Library’s big screen.  Free popcorn and soft drinks will be provided, too!  In this PG13 rated film, a group of interstellar outlaws, including a raccoon and a walking tree, team up to save the galaxy from a villain who seeks ultimate power.

The Teen Summer Reading Program is called Unmask!  Participants simply read books – fiction, nonfiction, or graphic novels, and depending on how much you read, be entered into prize drawings for iTunes gift cards, Starbucks gift cards, earbuds, and more.  The two teens who have read the most books over the summer will each win a $25 Amazon gift card Grand Prize!  Beginning on May 16, stop by the Teen Desk for more information and to receive your review sheets, coupons, and other prizes

Teen Tinycon/Summer Reading Kick Off is 9 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Saturday, May 16. You will meet Special Guests,they’ll have a costume contest, comic book making station, pizza, and more.  Registration for Summer Reading begins – coupons, prizes, etc.  ALL FUN ALL DAY in the Teen Room!

Children’s Summer Reading Program also starts May 16. Sign up and get a brochure which lists all the fun programs for Every Hero Has a Story.  Children from birth to age 12 may sign up at the Children’s Desk to read, do fun activities, and attend great events to win prizes this summer.
