Ravenwood Raptors Head To Bobcat Territory Friday

Williamson County Football

Defeating district rival Independence last Friday night, Ravenwood is up to a 4-0 start in the season.  The undefeated Raptors will take on John Overton at the Bobcats turf Friday night.

John Overton is currently going 5-0 in the season and hails from Class AAA District 12.  The Bobcats are currently ranked 11th overall on Coach T’s Strength and Success Column and ranked 16th in the state on MaxPreps.

Overton currently has given losses to local Williamson County teams, such as Father Ryan (3-2) and district rival Centennial (3-2), early in the season.   This game will serve as Overton’s Homecoming celebration.   The Bobcats will be a tough match-up for the Raptors, but with persistency, Ravenwood can pull through with a win.

Grabbing a win from Independence last week was essential for the Raptors.  Rumors of Ravenwood having an easy schedule is what was thought to give the Raptors a 3-0 start.  With all of the hyped-up talent that is currently at Independence’s roster, Ravenwood showed up with talent of its own and proved the rumors wrong.

MaxPreps currently has Ravenwood ranked 41st in the state, and Coach T has them ranked no.31 in the Division 1 Class AAA Strength and Success poll.

Last season, Overton ended with a 7-5 overall record, losing to Ravenwood’s district rival, Brentwood, in the 6A Playoffs.  Ravenwood finished out the season with a 3-7 record in 2012.  It seems that the Raptors are already prevailing over last season’s record with brand new head coach Will Hester.

The Raptors will kick-off on Bobcat turf at 7 p.m. Friday.
