Ravenwood Ready for McGavock

school headerRavenwood is flying high. The 4-1 Raptors had last week off to rest, and the week before they celebrated with a district win against Franklin.

On Friday it is homecoming, and Ravenwood will play host to Region 3-6A rival McGavock.

Raptors Take on Toughest District Opponent So Far

McGavock, like Ravenwood, has not lost in the district yet this year, so a win and the tiebreaker that comes with it could mean a lot for playoff standings.

Raptors coach Will Hester had this to say:

With it being a region game with playoff implications our guys will be fired up and ready to play. To be able to win we need to protect the football, get off the field on third down, and we need to win the special teams battle.

The Raptors are averaging almost 28 points per game and giving up fewer than 20. McGacock (4-2, 3-0)  scores about 28 points per game also but gives up only 18.

Against Franklin two weeks ago Ravenwood played junior quarterback Marrow McCain in his first significant action of the year and had a lot of success. Andrew Rappe had struggled a bit this year, and it will be interesting to see who Hester goes with at gametime.

McCain threw 12 for 19 for 196 yards and 2 touchdowns.

Chris Rowland is having a stellar year for the Raptors, with more than 700 total yards and 6 touchdowns. He is a dangerous dual threat for the Ravenwood offense.

Connor Jeffries leads the team in running, with almost 400 yards and 3 touchdowns.
