Ravenwood Circles the Wagons for Franklin

Ravenwood comes to Franklin on Friday night for a Region 3-5A contest.

The two rivals should bring out the town and back up traffic pretty good along Hillsboro Road.

Two Teams Figuring Things Out

Franklin (2-2, 0-1) beat Brentwood last week, in a game played in the mud after storms during the day. The game itself went the same way, with the teams combining for 6 turnovers.

Ravenwood (3-1, 1-0) on the flip side, lost for the first time this year at Centennial on Friday, scoring a season low 13 points while allowing a season high 30.

Franklin, also, lost to Centennial, getting shut out 20-0 in the first game of the season.

The two teams have a win in common, too: Ravenwood beat Brentwood in week 2.

But these are two fairly different teams. Ravenwood wins with its high-powered, big-play-potential offense. Franklin sticks to the ground, slowing games down, controlling the clock and wears teams down.

The Raptors average nearly 29 points per game on offense, while allowing 22.8. The Rebels score 10 fewer points per game, 18.9, while on defense, at 23.5 points per game, allow nearly one more.

“For us to have a chance to win we are going to have to cut out the turnovers,” said William Hester, Ravenwood head coach. “Play great, gap-sound defense and not give up anything in the kicking game. They only way you can bounce back from a loss like that is to put your head down, circle the wagons, and get back to work.”

Franklin will play the Apache this Friday, trying to break up that wagon train.
