On Saturday, November 14, the Ravenwood High School Varsity Competition Cheerleaders claimed the TSSAA state championship in the Medium Varsity division for the third consecutive year in a row. The team consists of girls ranging from freshmen through seniors. “I love being able to represent our school at the state level,” stated Becca Zaves, senior. “And it is an even better feeling to bring home the state title.”

This is not the first accolade the team has collected this season. Ravenwood won first place at the Tennessee Regionals that was held at Brentwood High School, first place at the North Alabama Regionals, and claimed the title of Grand Champions at the Blackman High School Invitational. “This has been a successful year so far,” commented Head Coach Barbee Morgan. “The girls work really hard and practice three times a week while still cheering on their school teams. They are completely dedicated, committed, and talented. Their hard work is paying off.”

The team recently earned their bid to compete in the Nationals High School Championship which will be held in February. “Next up is Nationals in Orlando,” stated senior Sarah Klippenstein. “Practice will now get harder and more frequent. You can expect a better, stronger, closer team.”

Senior Kylie Betchley added, “It is such an honor to be able to represent Ravenwood and to win the state title. Now we have one final goal, and that is to win the National title for our school, county, and state. We will be practicing hard the next couple of months and hopefully our hard work will pay off in February.”

Members of the squad are Seniors Sarak Klippenstein, Kylie Betchley, and Becca Zaves. Juniors Brooke Phillips, Greta Peterson, Logan Jordan, Lauren Martin, Sydney Fordice, and Aerial Griffin. Sophomore Morgan Lanius. Freshmen Ally Hankins, Bailey Martin, Reghan Jordan, Bri Fick, Olivia Corley, and Sydney Dagostino. They are coached by Barbee Morgan, Kacy Herald, and Jay Noffsinger. Their faculty sponsor is Stephanie Dykes.
