Ravenwood High School promoted Matt Daniels to head football coach Thursday.

The school announced that Daniels, who was an assistant to resigned coach Richie Wessman last year, would take over the head coach job.

Former Tennessee Titan and Williamson County resident Ryan Fowler, who had been defensive coordinator under Wessman, will move up to associate head coach and remain the defensive coordinator, according to RHS athletic director James Borne.

Daniels coached as an assistant and coordinator to coach special teams and the defensive backs for four years at Falls Church High School in Virginia before coming to Ravenwood with Wessman last year. He also teaches social studies at Ravenwood

The Raptors finished 7-6 last year and made their second straight appearance in the 6A state championship game. They won in 2015 but lost last year 42-16 to Cordova.
