Ravenwood Ends Season with Tough Loss to Blackman

Williamson County Football

All good things must come to an end.  That is, certainly, what is getting Ravenwood through a tough 14-47 loss to Blackman (10-2) in the second round of the play offs.

The Raptors were out matched by Blackman in many categories before the game, and when it came time to step-up to the plate, Ravenwood wasn’t able to keep up.

Ravenwood fell behind in the first quarter trailing 28-0 and ended halftime with a whopping 40-point deficit.  That’s something we all aren’t used to seeing Friday nights from the Raptors.

The red-and-black didn’t even have a chance to score until the final five-minutes of the game.  Blackman was already topped off with 47-points on the board at this point, and that was the end of the game for the Raptors.

Last season, Ravenwood finished out 3-7 without even a hope to the play offs.  The Raptors had an incredible season, finishing out 10-2 and undefeated in the district.  Head coach Will Hester has been a tremendous influence to this team and extended the students talents beyond comparison.  Plus, they ma y have one of the greatest fan bases in high school history.

There are signs on each side of the road reading “G2BARR” or “GO RAPTORS” traveling up to the school.  These signs go on for about a mile, and then, when you reach Ravenwood, there are even more.  The school spirit has a great impact on players and coaches, and these fans have done a great job.

Blackman will face rival Oakland next week in the Quarterfinals, and we will keep you updated on other Williamson County schools moving forward.
