Ravenwood quarterback Brian Garcia threw for 196 yards and two scores, Tony Rice rushed for 101 and a touchdown, and the Raptor defense forced four turnovers, as Ravenwood beat Brentwood, 47-24, to advance to the semifinals of the TSSAA Class 6A playoffs on Friday.
Anthony Holmes had seven catches for 113 yards and two scores for Ravenwood (11-2). The Raptors will travel to Whitehaven, which defeated Germantown, 14-0.
The Raptors broke the game open in a 2:45 span between the third and fourth quarters on William Baine’s 13-yard touchdown and Garcia’s 9-yard pass to Holmes. The last score put Ravenwood up, 40-20.
It was a sloppy first quarter, with Ravenwood fumbling three times and losing one, and Brentwood fumbling twice and losing both.
BHS quarterback Cade Granzow scored on a 1-yard run for the game’s first points with 2:09 left in what was a sloppy first quarter. Rice countered with a 3-yard scoring run, and the game was tied at 7 at the end of the period.

Back came Ravenwood, with Garcia finding Holmes for a 13-yard touchdown and Luke Akers’ point-after tying the game at 14 with 5:55 left in the second quarter.
Akers added a 29-yard field goal with 31 seconds left before half, providing the Raptors with a 17-14 advantage.
Brentwood ended its season at 10-3.
