Raptors Win Battle of the Woods in Extras

(Brentwood, TN) — With two outs in the top of the eighth, Ravenwood’s Bryce Denton scored the first of four runs in the inning on an error on the Brentwood third baseman.

The Raptors would get their next three runs on a bases loaded walk and a pair of singles. Other than a lead off double, the Bruins didn’t put up a threat in the bottom half of the inning and took just their third loss of the year.

The fourth best team in the state, Brentwood, didn’t put any numbers in the run column until the bottom of the seventh inning and scored them both with two-out singles to tie the game and force extras.

The Bruins’ best chance to win the game was in that inning with the winning run at second and slugger David Pimental at the plate. Ravenwood pitcher, Luke Yates, would get Pimental to ground out to short to end the inning.

Yates went seven innings, striking out six bruins and allowing just one earned run.

Bryce Denton, who has hit five home runs in three games, kept everything in the park today but did hit a double and scored two runs.

The Bruins still have an impressive 22-3 record and are 16-2 in district 11. Their arch rivals improve to 10-7 in district play and 15-13 overall with the upset win.

Ravenwood will play White House Heritage tomorrow at home while Brentwood will host #15 Riverdale at noon tomorrow.
